Kenya, April 20, 2026 - The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) has ordered the immediate closure of all campuses of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) after revoking its accreditation.
In a public notice on April 20, the authority said that the Institution has been offering and awarding academic and professional programmes to members of the public without the proper accreditation.
The institute is also said to engage trainers without valid licences, in contravention of Section 23(1) of the TVET Act, according to TVETA.
“KIM was accredited to offer programmes assessed and certified by TVET-CDACC. It has been established that KIM has continued: To offer programs that are not approved and Award Academic qualifications in contravention of Section 17(3) of the TVET Act Cap 210A,” the authority stated.
"The authority has declared that any certificates, diplomas, or other qualifications obtained from the institution beyond 2018 will not be recognized for employment, further education, or professional advancement," it added.
Members of the public have been encouraged to be vigilant while engaging with institutions and ensure that they verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any programme of study.
"Pursuant to Sections 36 and 37 of the TVET Act, the accreditation earlier issued to KIM and all its campuses in the Republic of Kenya has been revoked, and all KIM campuses have been closed with immediate effect,” the authority stated.
