Mogadishu, 4 September 2026 The federal government denied involvement in explosions at the home of former Custodial Corps commander Mahad Abdirahman Aden in Doolow, saying preliminary information indicated they resulted from explosive devices being prepared inside the house.
In a statement on Friday, the government said it was closely monitoring the incident and would appoint a fact-finding committee to investigate what happened, its intended purpose and those responsible.
The statement came after the Jubaland administration described the incident as an airstrike targeting Aden, also known as Gen. Shub. Jubaland accused the federal government and Türkiye of involvement.
Gen. Shub’s family said he survived. Other reports described the incident as a drone strike. No independent source has confirmed the type of weapon that caused the explosions or who was responsible.

The federal government said Doolow is strategically important to security and the movement of people and goods across Gedo region. Maintaining stability in the district and protecting civilians remain priorities, it said.
The government warned the public against relying on unverified reports before the investigation is completed, pledging to make the committee’s findings public.
The incident comes amid escalating political tensions between the federal government and supporters of former South West president Abdiaziz Laftagareen. Gen. Shub is reported to have links to Laftagareen’s camp.
