Mogadishu, 4 September 2026 The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing on Friday opened the tender for construction of the 22-kilometer Beledweyne-Kalabayr road.
State Minister Said Mohamed Mohamud Hayd launched the tender-opening ceremony, attended by ministry officials, members of the RIPSO team and representatives of competing firms.
The ministry said the opening of bids marked an important stage in the procurement process, conducted in accordance with African Development Bank procurement rules with an emphasis on transparency, accountability and fair competition.
The tender seeks a company with the technical expertise, experience and capacity to deliver the project per the prescribed standards and specifications.

The project includes six bridges. The road is expected to strengthen connectivity between communities, facilitate movement of people and vehicles and improve transport of goods, the ministry said.
The project forms part of the federal government’s broader efforts to develop road infrastructure, the ministry said, adding that the process would be guided by accountability, open competition and quality standards to ensure durable, high-quality roads.
