Jubaland, 4 September 2026 The Jubaland administration accused Türkiye and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of responsibility for an overnight airstrike in Doolow district, Gedo region, that reportedly injured five people.
In a statement issued on Friday, Jubaland alleged that Turkish military aircraft fired two missiles at a house occupied by former Somali Custodial Corps commander Mahad Abdirahman Aden. One of the missiles struck the home of the Doolow district commissioner, the administration said.
The strike injured Aden and four civilians, according to Jubaland.
Jubaland accused the federal government and Türkiye of targeting Aden because of his political differences with the federal leadership, describing the strike as an attack that harmed innocent civilians.
The administration said the attack on Doolow, a town that had remained largely free from insecurity, amounted to a “war crime” for which President Hassan Sheikh and the Turkish government must be held accountable.

It called on the United Nations, the African Union, IGAD, the United States and the European Union to scrutinise Türkiye’s activities in Somalia.
It also urged the U.N. to review its decision to lift the arms embargo on Somalia until assurances are provided that weapons supplied by international partners remain in responsible hands.
Jubaland further argued that the incident undermined Türkiye’s potential role in mediating Somalia’s internal political disputes, accusing Ankara of siding with one party.
Neither the federal government nor the Turkish government have responded to Jubaland's allegations. The party responsible for the strike and the type of aircraft involved have not been independently verified.
