Ankara (Dawan) – More than 300 Somali students graduated from universities in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, during the 2025–2026 academic year. A special ceremony was held in the city to celebrate their academic achievements at different levels of higher education.
The ceremony, held on 14 July, was attended by the First Counsellor of the Somali Embassy in Türkiye, Ismail Ibrahim Adan; Member of Parliament Mahad Awad; the embassy’s Education Attaché, Aisha Mohamud, and members of the Somali community in Türkiye.
Officials attending the event thanked the Turkish government, universities and scholarship-providing institutions for their continued support for Somali students.
Figures published by Türkiye’s National Intelligence Academy, based on the country’s higher education data system, show that 2,126 Somali students graduated from Turkish universities between 2013 and 2023.
