Angola, 30 August 2026 Djibouti on Saturday called for predictable and sustainable funding for Africa's peace operations, saying stable financing is critical to responding to conflicts.
Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar made the appeal at the 26th extraordinary session of the African Union Executive Council in Luanda, according to Djibouti News Agency.
The council met to strengthen African mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution, ahead of an extraordinary AU Assembly of heads of state and government on Sunday.
Omar said the African Peace Fund needs "predictable, adequate and sustainable" financing to enable an effective response to crises.

He called for stronger preventive diplomacy and closer coordination between the AU and regional economic communities, and for the effective participation of women and youth in mediation.
Omar also urged revival of the Nouakchott and Djibouti processes, calling them regional frameworks that could help counter terrorism and violent extremism.
The Executive Council's conclusions and a proposed set of "Luanda decisions," with an action plan and implementation matrix, will be presented to the leaders on Sunday.
