Mogadishu, 30 August 2026 The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has launched a cash assistance project for 130 vulnerable families caring for orphaned children.
SoDMA Commissioner Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle launched the initiative on Saturday. It is being implemented by Türkiye's IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.
The project aims to help families cover basic needs including food and healthcare, SoDMA said.

IHH has a long-standing presence in Somalia and says it supports 5,538 orphaned children in the country. Globally, the group says it provides monthly support to more than 150,000 orphans across 44 countries.
Abdulle thanked IHH, the Turkish government and people for continued humanitarian support, saying cooperation between government and aid groups remains essential.
SoDMA did not disclose the total amount allocated to the families.
