Hargeisa, 30 August 2026 Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi met on Saturday with politicians from eastern Sanaag who recently returned to Somaliland, in talks focused on reconciliation and inclusion.
Irro told the delegation they should not be seen as guests, but as people reconnecting with their communities and homeland, according to a presidency statement.
He said political differences should not create boundaries between communities and do not erase social ties.

Irro said his administration is committed to ensuring citizens feel included and have opportunities to participate in political and social life.
The meeting comes as his government has made reconciliation and broader political participation a central part of its domestic agenda.
Somaliland claims all of Sanaag region, though its administrative control varies.
