Somalia, 5 April 2026 Somalia’s civil servants, numbering around 15,000, will get a 50 per cent discount on healthcare services at Hodan Hospital following an agreement with the National Civil Service Commission.
The agreement, signed in Mogadishu, stipulates that government employees will directly benefit from medical services at reduced costs, easing the burden of rising healthcare costs.
The Director General of Hodan Hospital, Dr. Mohamed Isack Omar, said the agreement strengthens the hospital’s role in delivering modern healthcare services that meet community needs, particularly for government workers who form the backbone of public administration.

The Chairman of the National Civil Service Commission, Hasan Abshirow Mohamed, described the agreement as a key step toward improving healthcare access and overall well-being for civil servants, whose total number is estimated at approximately 15,000 across government institutions.
Officials noted that the agreement is part of broader efforts to enhance essential services for public employees and is expected to foster sustainable cooperation between government institutions and private healthcare providers.
The deal comes at a time when healthcare needs among government workers are rising, with access to affordable, quality services seen as critical to improving productivity and service delivery across public institutions.
