Galmudug, (Dawan), 3 August 2026 – The Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) won a commanding majority in the Galmudug House of Representatives, taking 63 of 89 seats after receiving 135,247 votes, or 69.91 percent of valid ballots, the Galmudug Electoral Commission announced Monday.
The House election was held in 11 districts and contested by 12 political parties. A total of 197,971 people voted. Of those, 193,451 ballots were valid and 4,520 were rejected.
Justice and Solidarity secured 70.79 percent of the seats in the House.
Towfiiq finished second with 26,003 votes and 12 seats.
SINCAD won 12,862 votes for 6 seats. Karaama received 10,668 votes for 5 seats.

Madalsan, SAAB and Ramaas each won 1 seat with 2,172, 2,634 and 2,585 votes respectively.
Five other parties received votes but won no seats: Justice, Unity and Pillar with 326 votes; Somali Citizens with 345; the Somali Democratic Organisation with 172; Dan Shacab with 101; and the National Youth Council with 336.
In total, 7 political parties will be represented in the 89-seat House.
The commission said votes from 2 polling stations were excluded from the final results after confirmed violations of election procedures.
It also said turnout differed from the local council election because voters received 2 separate ballots and could support different parties in each race.
