MOGADISHU — SIMAD University has opened its Center for Professional Exams as part of projects marking its 27th anniversary.
The center was officially opened on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting by Minister of Communications and Technology Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali and SIMAD University Chairman Abdikarim Muhudin Ahmed. The ceremony was attended by university leadership, government officials and other guests.
The center will allow Somali professionals to sit exams for internationally recognised qualifications without leaving the country. Many professionals have previously had to travel abroad, at significant extra cost and time.

Qualifications available include ACCA for accounting and finance, PMP for project management, CCNA for computer networking, IAPP for data protection and privacy, ACAMS for anti-money laundering and CIPS for procurement and supply chain management. Other international qualifications are also available.
The opening reflects SIMAD's commitment to extending its impact beyond the classroom and making it easier for professionals to reach international standards. Professionals with international qualifications raise the quality of government and business institutions and strengthen investor confidence, the university said.
The center is one of several projects SIMAD is launching to mark its anniversary. This week, the university also broke ground on the new SIMAD AI Institute building and held a health walk for its staff. The university celebrates SIMAD Day every year on Nov. 6.
