MOGADISHU, 6 November 2026 SIMAD University leadership and staff held a 4-kilometre health walk on Thursday as part of celebrations marking the university's 27th anniversary.
The walk, led by University Chairman Dr. Abdikarim Muhudin Ahmed, brought together senior management and staff and started at the Town Campus in Soobe, ending at Dr. Sumait Hospital, where staff received general health check-ups including blood pressure and heart rate measurements.
The walk aimed to monitor staff health, encourage physical activity and regular check-ups and strengthen relationships among staff outside offices and classrooms.
Dr. Ahmed said the walk marked the start of an ongoing programme and would become an annual tradition.
"The plan is to hold it every year, but we hope that in the future it will be held several times a year, God willing," he said.
SIMAD University celebrates SIMAD Day every year on Nov. 6. This year marks its 27th anniversary, with the health walk added as a new activity to the celebrations.
