Mogadishu, 25 August 2026 - SIMAD University opened its 11th Conference on Economics, Public Policy and Administration Development (CEPAD 2026) on Tuesday.
This year's theme is the impact of geopolitical shifts, electoral transitions and economic resilience.
More than 250 academics, researchers, government officials and students are attending the two-day conference, organized by the faculties of Economics and Social Sciences.
Final-year students from both faculties presented research on economic, political and social issues facing Somalia.

SIMAD President Abdikarim Mohyadin Ahmed said the conference was launched in 2015 to create a platform for researchers and young Somali scholars to discuss issues of national importance.
"Every year, priority is given to topics concerning the country and its circumstances," he said.
