Somalia, o1 June 2026 - The international community has expressed concern over the current political situation in Somalia, urging all sides to resume dialogue as soon as possible and work toward consensus on an electoral roadmap.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, a group of international partners said they stood ready to support Somali-led talks if requested, stressing the importance of reaching an agreement that serves the interests of the Somali people.
“We call on all sides to resume dialogue as soon as possible, and to swiftly reach consensus on an election roadmap in the interest of the Somali people,” the statement said.

The signatories also urged Somali leaders to prioritize the national interest and refrain from any actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions during what they described as a delicate moment for the country.
The statement was signed by the European Union Delegation to Somalia, the United Nations Transitional Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), and the embassies of Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The joint statement comes amid growing political tensions over Somalia’s electoral process and broader disagreements among political stakeholders regarding the country’s political future.
