Spain ,August 30, 2026 - Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, with the Brazilian forward now set to undergo a medical on Monday before completing a permanent move to Camp Nou.
The latest development was reported by Fabrizio Romano, who says Arsenal have authorised Jesus to travel for his medical. The deal is understood to be worth an initial €10 million package, plus potential add-ons, bringing the 29-year-old's four-year spell in north London to an unexpected conclusion.
The agreement comes after a dramatic change in Jesus' situation at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta confirmed earlier this week that the Brazilian was no longer training with the first team, explaining that the decision was related to the size of Arsenal's squad.
Jesus had already been left out of Arsenal's early competitive matches, including the Community Shield and the opening Premier League fixtures, increasing speculation that the club were actively looking for a solution before the transfer window closes.
Barcelona's decision to pursue Jesus comes as the Catalan club look to strengthen their attacking options.
The Brazilian offers considerable experience at the highest level, having previously enjoyed a successful spell at Manchester City before joining Arsenal in 2022 for approximately £45 million. He has won multiple Premier League titles with City and has also represented Brazil at international level.
Recent reports had indicated that Barcelona were exploring Jesus as an alternative option for the centre-forward position.

The move could also make sense financially for Barcelona, with the reported €10 million package significantly below the kind of fees associated with elite forwards in the current transfer market.
For Arsenal, however, Jesus' departure represents another major attacking change.
The club are already dealing with the expected departure of Gabriel Martinelli to Al Hilal, while they have also been pursuing Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez.
Jesus' contract with Arsenal was due to run until 2027, but his declining role and the club's squad numbers made a permanent exit increasingly likely.
If he successfully completes Monday's medical and signs the necessary paperwork, Gabriel Jesus will begin a new chapter in Spain.
