Kenya ,October 28, 2026 - A major German association for call centres and customer service is looking closely at Kenya. A team from the group, known as CCV, met with ICT Principal Secretary John Tanui to discuss investment and new digital jobs.
The meeting focused on Kenya’s growing Business Process Outsourcing sector. This is the work of handling customer calls, online support, and other digital services for companies in other countries. The German visitors wanted to see if Kenya could become a strong base for such work.
PS Tanui told the delegation that the government is ready to support investors. He pointed to Kenya’s young and skilled workers, its digital networks, and its position as a gateway in the region. He also stressed progress toward a special data agreement with the European Union. This agreement, called data adequacy, would make it easier and safer for European companies to send customer information to Kenya.
The talks also covered training. Both sides discussed ways to match what young Kenyans learn with the exact skills that international companies need. The goal is to prepare more people for jobs that serve customers in Europe and beyond.
For many young Kenyans, this kind of work can mean steady income without leaving home. Call centre and digital support jobs have already given thousands of people a chance to earn and gain experience. A serious move by German companies could open more of those doors.
Still, interest is only the first step. Real success will depend on whether companies actually set up operations, hire staff, and stay. It will also depend on how fast Kenya completes the European data agreement and how well training programmes deliver the right skills.
The meeting shows that Kenya is on the radar of important players in the global digital services industry. What happens next will show if this interest turns into real jobs and investment for young people across the country.
