Garowe, 28 October 2026 – Jubba Airways on Tuesday resumed its flights to Garowe, following the modernisation and restructuring of its services. The new service will operate as a regular weekly flight every Tuesday.
The relaunch was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Garowe, attended by company staff, officials from the Puntland administration, traditional elders and residents of the city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jubba Airways manager Said Jeesan noted that the company operated in the region from 2002 to 2019, at a time when it was the only airline connecting the country.
He said Jubba Airways operated at the airports of Bosaso, Garowe, Galkayo and Qardho before their runways and terminal buildings had been constructed. He also noted that once the Bosaso and Garowe airports were built, Jubba was the first airline to encourage large jet aircraft to land in Bosaso.
“The relaunch will be just as people knew us before, and even better, God willing. We want to operate seriously in both Garowe and Bosaso,” said manager Siciid Jeesan.
More from Somalia
Jubba Airways is a Somali airline founded in 1998. Its first flight was the first direct flight from Sharjah to Mogadishu since the state carrier, Somali Airlines, ceased operations in 1991.
The company is headquartered in Nairobi, with branches in Somalia, Djibouti, Uganda, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and employs more than 300 people.
The resumption of Garowe flights is part of a wider rebuilding effort by the airline. In September 2026, Jubba Airways announced its return to Somalia’s aviation market after suspending operations.
According to the company’s website, Jubba Airways lists the domestic destinations of Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Bosaso, Galkayo, Garowe, Guriel, Adado, Baidoa and Kismayo, as well as Nairobi, Djibouti, Jeddah and Dubai.
