Kenya, 27 May 2026 - Kenya is fully prepared to screen and respond to any potential Ebola cases entering the country, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has said, assuring the public that surveillance and screening measures have been intensified at all points of entry.
Speaking shortly after the Eid al-Adha prayers at Sir Ali Muslim Club in Nairobi, Duale said the health department has put up holding areas in case of a case and heightened surveillance.
“As a ministry, we are fully prepared, but we are also asking the citizens that they have a duty to protect themselves. They should report any relative who is sick and has been to either Uganda or the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the nearest medical facility,” he told journalists.
Duale said in case of any case, there are medics who are ready to do necessary measures and make follow up.
The CS said the government has put in place a mechanism to trace those who have been either to Uganda or DRC in bid to ensure the country is protected from the virus.

He urged citizens to be extra careful as there is no vaccine to emergent strains of Ebola virus.
“I want to assure the citizens all our health systems are in top gear. Our three laboratories are ready and working 24 hours and to make sure they test any specimen,” he added.
The vocal CS said the state has set up mobile laboratories at the border between Uganda and Kenya and the border between South Sudan and Kenya ensuring that all points of entry are all manned.
