The talks focused on advancing the work of the House of the People, strengthening cooperation among lawmakers and easing political tensions that have affected parliamentary proceedings.
According to a statement issued by the House of the People, the two sides agreed that parliament should remain neutral toward all political sides.
They also agreed that every lawmaker has the right to freely express their views and opinions while respecting the provisions of the House’s internal rules.

The agreement also addressed participation in parliamentary sittings, with the Speaker and opposition lawmakers agreeing that members involved in the dispute would participate alongside other lawmakers in sessions of the House.
Some of the opposition lawmakers had previously formed a grouping they called the “Independent Parliament” after several members were suspended and barred from attending parliamentary sessions.
The dispute and disciplinary measures occurred during the tenure of former House Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe.
The new Speaker, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, is seeking to bring lawmakers involved in the dispute back into the parliamentary process and restore cooperation within the House of the People.
