UK, 23 August 2026 - Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a major attacking reinforcement after reaching a verbal agreement with Manchester City for Omar Marmoush, according to the latest reports surrounding the developing transfer.
The proposed deal is understood to involve an initial loan, with a purchase clause that would become mandatory if certain conditions are met. The eventual permanent fee is reported to be around £50 million.
Marmoush has already given the green light to the move, with personal terms understood to have been agreed days ago. The Egyptian forward is expected to travel for his medical on Monday, provided the remaining formalities are completed.
The development comes shortly after Tottenham also reached an agreement with City for Brazilian winger Savinho, meaning Spurs are potentially completing a remarkable double raid on the Premier League champions.
Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for a reported £59 million after establishing himself as one of Europe's most productive attacking players in Germany.
His time at the Etihad, however, has been more complicated.
The Egyptian initially made a strong impact after arriving in England, but competition for attacking places subsequently limited his opportunities. Erling Haaland remains City's first-choice centre-forward, while the club's wide attacking options have also expanded.
Recent reporting has indicated that Tottenham's interest in Marmoush has accelerated considerably. The Guardian reported that City were close to selling both Marmoush and Savinho to Spurs as part of a major restructuring of Enzo Maresca's squad.
The potential signing represents another major statement under Roberto De Zerbi.
Spurs have already spent heavily this summer, bringing in players including Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, while the proposed arrival of Savinho would significantly strengthen their wide options.
Adding Marmoush would give De Zerbi another versatile forward capable of playing centrally or from the left.
That versatility could be particularly important following Tottenham's difficult start to the campaign. Spurs opened their Premier League season with a 3-0 defeat to Brentford, with De Zerbi acknowledging that his new-look team still needs time to develop cohesion.
Marmoush would provide an immediate injection of attacking quality.
The transfer also fits into City's broader squad restructuring.

Interestingly, Marmoush has not been reported to have demanded an exit. The Guardian noted that his situation differs from Savinho's, with City instead open to the Egyptian's departure because of his limited role.
The Marmoush negotiations are taking place alongside Spurs' agreement for Savinho.
Tottenham reached a verbal agreement with City for Savinho on August 20, with the transfer fee expected to exceed £75 million. Separate negotiations for Marmoush were continuing at that point.
Sky Sports subsequently reported that Tottenham were very close to completing the Marmoush deal after agreeing an £85 million package for Savinho.
If both transfers are completed, Tottenham will have secured two Manchester City attackers in one of the most ambitious late-window moves of the summer.
The latest agreement still requires the formal stages of the transfer to be completed.
Marmoush is expected to travel for his medical on Monday, after which the clubs can finalise the documentation.
If everything proceeds as expected, Omar Marmoush will become a Tottenham player initially on loan, with the reported £50 million purchase becoming mandatory if the agreed conditions are triggered.
