Mogadishu, 13 September 2026 The Somalia Revenue Directorate and the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry have agreed to establish a joint technical committee to address grievances and challenges facing businesses, the Revenue Directorate said.
The meeting, held on Saturday, was attended by Revenue Director General Faysal Mohamed Hashi, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Yasin Mohamed Ibar and several business representatives.
The Revenue Directorate said the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and finding solutions to challenges faced by businesses.
The two sides agreed to strengthen consultations, taxpayer awareness and services, while establishing a joint technical committee to accelerate efforts to resolve existing complaints and challenges, the directorate said.
The Chamber said it raised concerns from businesses, particularly complaints related to the closure of some traders' warehouses and the impact this was having on their commercial activities.

The Chamber's chairman asked the Revenue Directorate to ease the pressure on businesses and reduce the burdens facing traders, the Chamber said.
The Chamber also called for businesses' concerns to be addressed through dialogue and mutual understanding, citing the importance of commerce to Somalia's economy.
The Revenue Directorate said the meeting also stressed the importance of compliance with tax laws and preparations for modern tax systems.
Both sides agreed on the importance of developing a transparent and fair system that supports revenue growth and strengthens relations between the government and the business community, the Revenue Directorate said.
The meeting ended with an agreement to strengthen cooperation and regular dialogue to reduce challenges facing businesses, according to the Revenue Directorate and the Chamber.
