Somalia, 23 June 2026 – Somalia’s Interior Ministry called for an immediate end to clan fighting in Sool region's Aricadeeye after clashes between two communities reportedly killed 21 people.
In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said it was saddened by the violence, which it said had caused deaths and injuries among civilians.
The ministry condemned what it described as acts of violence that led to the loss of life and called on all sides to stop the fighting without conditions.
It urged the parties involved to prioritise peace, coexistence and the protection of stability for local communities.
“We strongly condemn the acts of violence that caused the death and injury of civilians,” the statement said.

The ministry also called on traditional elders, religious leaders, women, youth, local notables and officials from the North East State administration to take an active role in calming the situation.
It said dialogue should be strengthened and a lasting peaceful solution pursued to prevent the conflict from spreading further.
Local reports said funeral prayers were held collectively in Las Anod for 21 people killed in the fighting.
The ministry did not provide an official death toll or injury figures, and did not say what triggered the clashes.
The ministry offered condolences to the families of those killed and wished the wounded a swift recovery.
