ETHIOPIA (Dawan Africa) —Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State has begun assessing the quality of vocational graduates after hundreds of trainees sat competency certification (COC) exams, state broadcaster SRTV Somali reported on Tuesday.
A total of 286 students and 12 instructors from Fiiq Technical and Vocational College took part in the exams, conducted by the regional competency assessment agency, the report said.
The candidates included both long-term and short-term trainees who had completed vocational training programmes.

Mohamed Ugas, head of the college, said the results would provide a clear measure of both training quality and institutional performance.
“We expect the students to achieve strong results,” he said.
The assessment is part of wider efforts by regional authorities to strengthen quality assurance in vocational education and better align training outcomes with labour market demands.
