Djibouti, 6 December 2025 — Somali Police Force recruits have completed a three- month training course in Djibouti delivered by Italian and Djiboutian instructors, as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of Somalia’s security forces to effectively secure the country.
The graduation ceremony held on Thursday at Idriss Farah Abaneh Academy of the National Police of Djibouti was attended by senior Djibouti and Somali officials including Djibouti’s Interior Minister Said Nouh Hassan, Director General of the National Police Colonel Abdourahman Ali Kahin, and the Chief of the Somali Police Force, General Asad Osman Abdullahi.
During the ceremony, the recruits showcased their skills by conducting mock demonstrations covering vehicle-stop procedures, building-entry operations, and crowd-management scenarios.
Speaking at the event, General Abdullahi thanked Djibouti for its continued support to Somalia, highlighting the training’s relevance for police operations.

On his part, Colonel Abdourahman Kahin urged the recruits to act as “the guarantors of security and law” in their duties.
Djibouti and Somalia maintain longstanding bilateral ties that include diplomatic relations, security cooperation, and cultural links.
Djibouti is also a troop-contributing country to the Africa Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and participates in regional efforts against the Al-Shabaab militants, whose activities affect Somalia and neighboring countries.
