Djibouti, 9 September 2026 Germany is funding development projects in Djibouti worth more than €10 million, aimed at supporting community services and boosting local economic opportunities, according to RTD TV.
Djibouti’s Minister of State for the Expansion of the Djibouti Regional Administration, Omar Hussein Omar, inaugurated projects implemented in Ali Adde area of Ali Sabieh Region, in the presence of IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Djiboutian government officials, international organizations and local authorities.
The projects are part of the IGAD Regional Migration Fund, which is supported by Germany with €10 million to improve services and strengthen economic opportunities for communities across the region.
During the event, the minister visited the former Ali Sabieh railway station, where a new commercial market was established with funding from IGAD in partnership with the German government.

The market covers 2,550 square metres and includes 24 shops, 48 open commercial spaces, toilets and administrative offices. It is designed to support local trade and create economic opportunities for the surrounding community.
Separately, Djibouti’s Parliament Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita met with EU Ambassador to Djibouti Denisa-Elena Ionete to discuss strengthening parliamentary cooperation and the INTERPAR project, supported by the European Union to enhance the capacity of parliamentary institutions.
The projects and meetings are part of broader efforts to strengthen international cooperation and improve community services in Djibouti.
