PARIS, September 8, 2026 - Djibouti and France held bilateral talks in Paris on Monday on strengthening relations, investment, security and regional issues, Djibouti News Agency reported.
The talks were co-chaired by Djibouti's Foreign Minister and government spokesman Abdoulkader Houssein Omar and his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, the agency said.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation, including efforts to revive French investment in Djibouti and finance infrastructure projects, particularly those related to airports, according to the agency.
They also discussed preparations for an economic delegation from the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF) to visit Djibouti.
Defence and security cooperation featured in the talks, with the two ministers reviewing implementation of a new defence cooperation treaty, the agency said.

The ministers also discussed cooperation in space activities, scientific research and efforts to address climate change, as well as closer cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries.
During the talks, Djibouti and France signed an agreement on secondary education reform in Djibouti and the construction of a secondary school in Balbala, according to the agency.
The two ministers also discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East, as well as priorities expected to be raised at the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly, the agency reported.
Omar also visited the French National Assembly, where he was received by its president, Yaël Braun-Pivet, according the agency.
