Somalia, 22 June 2026 – Mogadishu police arrested suspects accused of assaulting a Somali woman, as the search continued for others, police said
The Banadir Regional Police Command said the suspects in custody were among those accused of carrying out what it described as serious abuses against the woman.
Police did not disclose the number of people arrested, the names of the suspects or where they were detained.

The command said operations were still under way to locate and arrest the remaining suspects.
It said further details would be shared with the public and the media once the operation is completed and all remaining suspects are in custody.
The announcement follows a statement by Somalia’s Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, which condemned the assault and called on security agencies to bring those responsible before justice.
