Somalia, Aug. 22, 2026 The Somali Football Federation (SFF) has banned Mogadishu International School player Ali Abdi Dahir for one year for misconduct during a Somali School Championship match, the federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee said on Friday.
Dahir, who wore No. 11 for Mogadishu International School, was accused of deliberately slapping and standing over Ahmed Jibril Abdulkadir, a No. 6 player for Howlwadaag School, the committee said in its decision.
The incident occurred during a match between Howlwadaag School and Mogadishu International School in the 2026 Somali School Championship.
The committee said it reviewed reports submitted by the match referee, as well as video footage and witness statements presented to the panel.
It also cited provisions of the school's competition regulations and the SFF Disciplinary and Ethics Code in reaching its decision.

Under the ruling, Dahir is prohibited for one year from football-related activities both inside and outside Somalia, including playing and administrative activities.
The committee said the decision was issued on Aug. 19, 2026.
Dahir has the right to appeal in accordance with Articles 101 and 102 of the SFF Disciplinary and Ethics Code.The decision was signed by lawyer Ahmed Abdulkadir Mohamed, chairman of the federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
Disciplinary sanctions in football can vary depending on the severity of an offence and the rules of the governing body. They can include warnings, fines, match suspensions and longer bans from football-related activities in serious cases.
