Kenya, 8 November 2026 - President William Ruto on Sunday said he is keen to ensure all regions in the country receive equitable development as he launched road projects and promised to continue streamlining the education and health sectors.
He added that he will ensure electricity connectivity to power businesses and light homes.
Speaking during the launch of the Tombe-Mokomoni road, President Ruto said the people of Nyamira deserve equal development like other parts of the country.
President Ruto said he had been approached by the area MP, Joash Nyamoko of North Mugirango, “who is my friend.”
“Today I came here in Tombe to ensure that the promise of a road from Tombe to Isinda to Mokomoni is in place. We have money and the contractor is also here,” President Ruto said during his tour of the Gusii region.
He also said that he had launched a road in Nyamira from Bondeni to Mabombo. About KSh 11 billion has been set aside to tarmac 180 km of roads in Nyamira alone.
“As we built Nairobi to Mau Summit, here in Nyamira we must also implement development projects.”
He further stated that in Nyamira 10 markets are being constructed and 2,500 housing units are under way. In addition, about 550 hostels are set to benefit learners in TVETs, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and national polytechnics.

"About 2,500 youths from Nyamira will reside in the hostels we are constructing," the Head of State said.
He stated that his administration is keen to support all parts of the country.
Nyamira is due to get a university, and one is already under construction in North Mugirango.
The head of state said KSh 500 million has been set aside and promised that an additional KSh 220 million will be provided for hostels.
"Next year (2027) when university admissions will be taking place, for the first time we shall be having students join this university in Nyamira," he stated.
KSh 1.7 billion is to be used to build a Level 5 Hospital so that the people of Nyamira can benefit when seeking medical care.
“We have some governors who are too insensitive and want to do things they are not able to do. Your governor is a gentleman who approached me and told me that the hospital is a headache and I decided that we must build it,” President Ruto said, lauding Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo.
