BEIJING, 8 November 2026 – Somalia's Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Abdifatah Qasim Mohamud on Saturday called for the protection of press ethics at the seventh World Media Summit in Beijing.
The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that the minister called for agreements reached at the summit to be turned into practical steps to develop journalists' skills, expand access to technology and safeguard press ethics, stressing that news accuracy and editorial responsibility were central to the transformation and modernisation of the media.
The summit is focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on the media and on strengthening international cooperation so that technological progress supports access to reliable information and public trust in the media.
