MOGADISHU, November 8 2026 – Qatar Charity has handed 12 modern dialysis machines to Darussalam Hospital in Mogadishu to strengthen health services for patients with kidney disease, the charity said on Saturday.
Abdifatah Adam Moallim, head of Qatar Charity in Somalia, said growing demand for kidney treatment had prompted the charity to help address the challenges facing patients with kidney failure, particularly those who cannot afford dialysis.
He said the support was a humanitarian effort to stand by patients who need regular treatment and to ease their financial burden, according to a post on the charity’s Facebook page.
The management of Darussalam Hospital said the machines would improve the quality of its dialysis services and increase its capacity to treat patients.
Darussalam Hospital is where the Hormuud Salaam Foundation provides free dialysis to more than 170 kidney patients, spending more than $1 million a year, the foundation’s chairman Abdullahi Nur Osman said in April 2025. He said the foundation covers $500 to $600 per patient each month.
In June, Qatar Charity donated 10 dialysis machines and 10 medical beds to Mogadishu’s Erdoğan Hospital, saying at the time that Somalia faced a severe shortage of dialysis equipment.
