Kenya, 21 April 2026 - The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has cautioned the public against enrolling at the Northlands International Medical Training College, which it says is offering unauthorised programmes.
In a statement on Monday, the council said that the college has been offering several courses, including Nursing Aid or Nursing Assistant training, which is not a recognised programme in the country.
The Council emphasised that it is the sole authority mandated to accredit nursing and midwifery training institutions, and any course offered without its green light does not meet the required professional standards.
“The information herein is solely for purposes of cautioning the Public and not meant to embarrass any individual or entity,” the council stated.
“NCK will, however, not be held responsible for any damages arising in contract, tort, or otherwise from the use or inability to use the information contained herein or from any action or decision taken as a result of using the said information,” it added.
The college operates campuses in Kisumu and Nairobi and offers a variety of certificate, diploma, and higher diploma programmes focused on healthcare training.
Members of the public and guardians have been encouraged to remain vigilant and ensure that they verify the accreditation status of any nursing or midwifery programme.
Interested individuals can utilise the council’s website to view the full list of approved institutions and programmes.
The announcement comes hours after the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) ordered the immediate closure of all Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) campuses after revoking its accreditation.

The authority claims that the institution has been awarding academic and professional programmes without the proper accreditation, as well as engaging trainers without valid licences.
Since its establishment in 1954, the college has produced over 70,000 graduates and currently hosts approximately 8,000 students across its 14 campuses nationwide.
“KIM was accredited to offer programmes assessed and certified by TVET-CDACC. It has been established that KIM has continued to offer programmes that are not approved and Award Academic qualifications in contravention of Section 17(3) of the TVET Act Cap 210A,” the authority stated.
