Kenya, 12 September 2026 – The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Diaspora and Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday attended the William Ole Ntimama Memorial Service in Narok, where he said that the government continues to transform Narok and all other parts of Kenya.
"Ntimama had a conviction that Narok would make a name for itself on the Kenyan map," Mudavadi said.
The PCS stated that Ntimama supported and empowered the Maa community to embrace education as an enabler of change within his community and Kenya at large.
Ntimama championed the rights of minority and pastoralist communities. He died on 1 September 2016 at the age of 88. He is now immortalised in a new book, William ole Ntimama: A Biography by Lydia Naneu and Tabitha Sewe, which was officially launched during the 10th anniversary since his passing on.
"Ntimama would have been very happy to witness these highways and high-rise infrastructure being developed and opening up several parts of the country, including Narok," Mudavadi said.
"Let me remind you all. When I entered Parliament in 1989, I was given a Cabinet slot by the President at that time (the late President Daniel Arap Moi), and it happened to be his former portfolio, the Ministry of Supplies and Marketing. Ntimama is the one who handed me my first government file when he left to take over the Ministry of Local Government," he said.
"His blessings were part of my journey, including my political career. Ntimama gave the Maa community a voice."
Mudavadi urged the remaining leaders, including Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, to ensure that the Maa community continues to rise. He also urged the youth to note that Ntimama pushed for land reforms.
"To the younger generation, let us look at land and value addition for the Maasai community, for Kenyans, and for future generations," he added.
More from Kenya
He touched on the country's minerals, stating that Kenya has many resources and investors, including foreigners, must not just exploit them.
"Is Africa holding more of the supply chain than the value? This is the question that we must answer as a people," he posed.
He also drummed up support for President William Ruto.
"The vote that you have is not for hunting. I want you to use your vote wisely. I know there are people saying that it will be a matter of 'do or die', or that we shall steal or rig the election. However, I want to assure you that Kenya is a country that respects democracy, the electoral process, and its institutions," he said.
He said he believes the 10 August 2027 General Election would be free and fair, which no one would go to challenge in the Supreme Court.
"We want the victory of President Ruto to be respected, not to be doubted," he concluded.
He also thanked Frank Ole Kibelekenya, who has been appointed to be the first Kenyan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark in Copenhagen.
