Somalia, 2, Febuary 2026 Mogadishu City Club (MCC) won the 2026 General Daud Cup on after a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over Horseed FC in an entertaining final played at Mogadishu Stadium on Monday.
Horseed FC, the Somali National Army team, took early control of the match, racing to a 2–0 lead with two quick goals in the opening stages. MCC, however, mounted an impressive recovery, scoring three consecutive goals to seal the title in front of a packed crowd.
Forward Abdiqadir Enow “Benteke” emerged as the standout performer, scoring two of MCC’s three goals and playing a decisive role in the turnaround. He was later named Player of the Tournament following a strong run throughout the competition.

MCC began their General Daud Cup campaign on Jan. 10 with a 2–1 win over Raadsan Club. The victory comes after MCC missed out on the 2024–2025 title, which was won by Dekedda FC.
The General Daud Cup is regarded as Somalia’s third most prestigious football competition, after the Somali Premier League and the Inter-State Tournament. First held in 1972, the tournament is named after General Daud Abdulle Hirsi, the founder of the Somali National Army.
Horseed FC, which represents the armed forces, is a regular participant in the competition, which features 16 teams drawn from Somalia’s A, B and C divisions. This year’s triumph marks the 31st edition of the tournament.
