Kenya, 6 November 2026 - Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday dismissed the two-term rhetoric as hogwash during his tour of the Luo Nyanza region, saying the large turnout shows that people there are fed up with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Kalonzo also called for an inquiry into the killings witnessed during recent tours by leaders allied to the opposition.
He said President William Ruto’s administration cannot be trusted, claiming that things have gone out of hand.
“This Luo Nyanza stood out as champions of democracy,” Kalonzo said on Friday.
He said the country remembers what transpired when goons disrupted the Linda Mwananchi brigade in Homa Bay County.
Kalonzo said earlier reports that only six people died were wrong, as Suba South MP Caroli Omondi “has given me a detailed report of how many people died”. He said about 61 people lost their lives.
“This was a massacre. It was a massacre and as a United Alternative Government, we are calling for a special inquiry to find out exactly what happened, who was responsible for these killings because a country cannot continue this way,” Kalonzo said.
He made the remarks in Homa Bay and reiterated that “we don’t want Homa Bay to be turned into a killing field.”
The Wiper leader also recalled how the late Albert Ojwang was hounded from his home in Homa Bay by police officers while having lunch. Ojwang was later tortured in detention at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.
“Homa Bay is part of Kenya. Very important part of this country,” he said.
He was flanked by several leaders, including Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, and Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) leader Justin Muturi.

Kalonzo said Homa Bay is a beautiful part of Kenya, with scenic attractions and good, welcoming people, and deserves better.
“I remember when I was Minister for Tourism I launched this tourist circuit from Ruma National Park, the Bird Island and went up to Kit Mikayi. From Kit Mikayi I drop to the wheeping hills in Kakamega, I went to Ikolomani actually where I met Boni Khalwale, the Bull Fighter of Ikolomani and upto the Sitatunga places in Trans Nzoia. A beautiful tourist circuit,” Kalonzo stated.
On Friday, Kalonzo and his team are expected to visit the mausoleum of the late former Labour Minister Tom Mboya and lay a wreath there. Nearby also lies the grave of Kennedy Onyango, a young man who was shot 12 times in Rongai in the wake of the 2024 Gen Z protests.
On Thursday, Kalonzo held a press conference in Kisumu and advanced to Migori, where he said the turnout of supporters was huge despite efforts by aggressors to throw stones.
Reflecting on Thursday’s events, Kalonzo said his entourage failed the people of Katitu, who were eager to be addressed by the leaders.
“Two-term has been debunked by large turnout in Ndhiwa and Sori,” Kalonzo said.
He said people there are saying “Wantam” because they want a country where people are not abducted at will by those in authority.
“They want a country that is under the rule of law under Constitution 2010, the Bill of Rights. They want to see that and feel it in their own daily lives,” he said.
The Friday tour will see the former Vice President address crowds in Oyugis, Kendu Bay and Kisumu before heading back to Nairobi.
