ADDIS ABABA (Dawan) – Ethiopia’s National Election Board has received 47 formal complaints related to the 7th national elections, held on June 1, 2026, the board announced.
Chairperson of the National Election Board, Ms. Melatework Hailu, said the complaints came from a range of stakeholders, including political parties, election observers, and members of the public using dedicated channels set up by the board.
“All registered complaints have been forwarded to a legal committee assigned to investigate them, ensuring that allegations and procedural concerns are properly verified,” Melatework Hailu stated.

The board chairperson added that the public and relevant stakeholders will be informed of the final decisions once the ongoing investigations are concluded.
The nationwide elections on June 1 included contests for seats at both federal and regional levels. Preliminary results indicated that the voting process was largely peaceful, although the board continues to evaluate complaints received.
