Egypt, 27 December 2025 The Arab Republic of Egypt has strongly condemned Israel’s unilateral recognition of the Somaliland region, stressing the move undermines state sovereignty and contravenes the established principles of international law and the UN Charter.
In a statement issued in Cairo on Saturday, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said the move constitutes a clear violation of international law, undermines the foundations of international peace and security, and contributes to instability in the Horn of Africa.
The statement underscored Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to recognize parallel or separatist entities through illegitimate and unlawful means, reaffirming Cairo’s full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in line with international law and the UN Charter.
