Kenya, 27 December 2025 - As dawn broke over the eastern slopes of Mt Kenya on Saturday, people in their hundreds quietly streamed into Samson Corner in Kirinyaga County where they urged for peaceful co-existence and emphasised on the stability of the nation.
This year's edition of the annual convention was held in open farms and coffee plantations facing the snow-capped mountain.
The forum transformed the usually quiet rural landscape into a scene of reflection and renewed hope.
Organisers said the gathering was convened after a request from national security agencies, a rare move that highlighted growing anxiety over political tensions and security challenges within the country and the wider region.
Elder Samuel Kamitha, director of the Gikuyu and Mumbi Cultural Museum, said security officers often become the first victims when peace breaks down.
For him, the event offered both spiritual reflection and practical lessons.
“When there is war or instability, it is the security officers who suffer the most,” Kamitha said.
“We felt compelled to come together and we hope that God will protect the nation and those charged with keeping it safe.”
Mzee Kamitha warned that unrest in neighbouring countries was a reminder of how fragile peace can be.

He urged Kenyans to remain united and to confront individuals who incite division and chaos.
Political messages also dominated the event.
One of the conveners, Karanja Mwangi, used the occasion to caution politicians against narratives that divide the Mt Kenya region into east and west, saying such rhetoric threatens long-standing bonds among communities living around the mountain.
“The people of Mt Kenya are united by history and by the blood that was shed during the struggle for independence,” Mwangi told the gathering.
“No one should try to divide us.”
He recalled how different communities around the mountain played distinct roles before independence, cooperation that he said laid the foundation for their shared identity today.
