Kenya, 27 December 2025 - President William Ruto on Friday used his visit to Migori County to rally local leaders and residents to back his political bid, as he inspected the KSh 750 million Suna East Stadium and attended the Suna East Constituency Tournament Final.
The President was received by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who welcomed him and praised the national government for investing in sports infrastructure in the county.
Dr Ayacko said the stadium would be a major boost to youth development and economic growth in Migori.
“This stadium is not just about sports; it is about giving our young people opportunities and hope,” Ayacko said, assuring the President that Migori leaders were ready to work with the national government to deliver development.
Addressing the crowd, President Ruto urged residents to support his leadership, saying his administration was focused on inclusive development that reaches grassroots communities.
He pointed to projects such as the Suna East Stadium as evidence of his commitment to transforming counties through infrastructure, youth empowerment, and job creation.
“I want the people of Migori to judge us by our work,” Ruto said, adding that his government would continue investing in sports, roads, and economic programs to uplift ordinary Kenyans. He called on local leaders to unite and support his agenda for national development.
Cabinet Secretary for Finance John Mbadi echoed the President’s message, saying the government was determined to ensure public funds were used for projects that directly benefit citizens.
Mbadi said the stadium project demonstrated how national and county governments could work together for the good of the people.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who accompanied the President, said the region stood to benefit from closer cooperation with the national government.
