Djibouti (Dawan Africa) Intelligence chiefs from 13 East African countries met in Djibouti to boost counterterrorism cooperation and regional security.
The meeting brought together officials from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles.
The discussions focused on terrorist threats in the region and how intelligence agencies can work together to prevent the movements of armed groups.
Participants agreed to strengthen real-time information-sharing on terrorist groups’ activities and other security threats.

The meeting also addressed the need to strengthen cross-border operations to prevent attempts by armed groups to destabilize the region.
Djibouti’s Prime Minister, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, who attended the meeting, highlighted Djibouti’s strategic role in regional peace and stability.
Djibouti’s Director General of National Security, Hassan Said Kaireh, called for improved intelligence gathering to respond effectively to emerging security threats.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening regional cooperation on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing and protecting stability in East Africa.
