U.S., 12 August 2026 - Google has unveiled a new feature that will allow users to share contact information, photos and videos, among others, between compatible Android devices by just tapping devices together.
In a statement on Wednesday, the company stated that the new feature, which works through Google’s Quick Share, is initially rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices, with support for additional Android smartphones expected later this year.
It will also be available on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 soon.
Google said users can exchange contact information by bringing two compatible Android devices close together while on the home screen, enabling an instant two-way exchange.
To share photos and videos, the company stated that users can open the phone’s Share Sheet and then tap the devices together to initiate the transfer.
“We’re making sharing between Android devices even simpler, starting with Pixel. Eligible devices can now use Quick Share and tap to send contact info, photos, videos, and more,” the company stated.
“It’s easy to use, too — especially when you're swapping contact info. When you’re on your home screen, just bring your compatible Android device and another Android device close together for an instant, two-way exchange,” it added.
Apart from new features on devices, the company has announced the launch of new devices today. The company has introduced the Pixel Tag, which can be connected to Android devices and used to locate belongings such as luggage.
"Introducing Google Pixel Tag, our first-ever finder tag. Attach it to your keys or slip it into your luggage to easily find the things you need, whether they’re near or far, right in Find Hub,” the company stated.
The company has also launched a new Pixel Watch 5, which features advanced capabilities such as pausing an audiobook or podcast immediately when a listener dozes off. The new watch is being powered by AI advances from Gemini.
