US, September 02,2026 - Google has unveiled Gemini 3.8 Flash, its latest artificial intelligence model, which delivers major improvements in software engineering, autonomous AI tasks, and advanced reasoning.
The tech giant launched the model just three weeks after Google introduced Gemini 3.7 Flash and marks the company’s third Flash model release in six weeks, highlighting the increasing pace at which it is developing its AI models.
Google, which labelled Gemini 3.8 Flash its “most intelligent workhorse model,” said it will provide significant performance improvements in software engineering, agentic tasks and multi-step reasoning in specialised fields.
Gemini 3.8 Flash is now available to developers through the Gemini API, Google AI Studio, Android Studio and other Google platforms.
Enterprise users can access the model through Gemini Enterprise, while Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can use Gemini 3.8 Flash through the Gemini app, Google Search’s AI Mode and Gemini in Google Sheets
The model is available at the same introductory price as Gemini 3.7 Flash, costing $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens.
Google said Gemini 3.8 Flash often approaches the performance of more expensive frontier AI models while retaining the speed and cost advantages associated with the Flash series.
"Building on the momentum of 3.7 Flash from three weeks ago and marking our third Flash release in only six weeks, today we’re introducing Gemini 3.8, our best reasoning & coding model yet, at the same speed and low cost of 3.7. Gemini 3.8 introduces 2 variants," Google said.

The company also reported improved performance in professional and quantitative fields, such as finance and legal tasks.'
"These performance gains stem from a core design choice: 3.8 Flash works harder. On complex tasks, it exhibits greater diligence — executing extra reasoning steps and calling tools iteratively. At times, the model might use more tokens to maximize performance, especially at higher effort levels," the company said.
Alongside Gemini 3.8 Flash, Google also introduced Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, a specialised model designed to help cybersecurity defenders identify and fix software vulnerabilities.
Google said Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, which it said is its most capable cybersecurity model yet, outperformed both its previous Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber model and significantly larger frontier models on CyberGym, which is used to evaluate autonomous vulnerability discovery.
Unlike Gemini 3.8 Flash, the Cyber version will initially be provided to trusted defenders through its Fairwind Program, including government authorities, critical infrastructure operators and software maintainers.
Google assured that it has equipped the two models with vital safety protections, including safeguards against misuse involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats, as well as cyber-offensive activities.
