USA , August 12 , 2026 - Google is set to introduce new health and safety features that will enable Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air users to track small changes in their health and wellness over time.
The tech giant said on Wednesday that the features, dubbed Health Guardians, will be available in the coming days through the Google Health app.
The features are designed to monitor physiological indicators in the background, providing users with monthly summaries and notifications when significant changes are detected.
The features include insulin resistance trends, blood pressure trends, sleep breathing quality trends, and breathing emergency detection. However, the company has noted that the availability of the features will vary depending on the device and location.
The company said that the models are powered by artificial intelligence models trained using sensor data from millions of users who opted into data sharing.
Google said the features have undergone clinical validation using established medical devices and measurement protocols.
“By working quietly in the background 24/7, Health Guardian features can track usually invisible health and wellness indicators, such as insulin resistance trends,” the company stated.
“The information is shared in a monthly summary in the Google Health app that highlights noteworthy shifts. You can also get timely notifications if a feature detects something that requires your attention,” it added.

Google said its insulin resistance feature will analyse physiological data collected over several weeks to identify changes in metabolic health without requiring a blood sample. The company said users could use the information to make changes to their nutrition, sleep and physical activity.
The blood pressure feature will use pulse and movement patterns collected by devices to estimate blood pressure trends over time without requiring a blood pressure cuff or manual calibration.
Another feature, sleep breathing quality trends, will monitor changes in breathing during sleep and provide users with information each morning on how much of their sleep was spent with optimal breathing.
The breathing emergency detection, which will initially be available on Pixel Watch in select European countries, will have the ability to detect dangerously low blood oxygen levels associated with breathing emergencies.
Google said the opt-in feature can automatically contact emergency services and, where applicable, emergency contacts if it detects a critical drop in oxygen saturation and the user becomes unresponsive.
