Kenya, May 27, 2026 - The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has concluded a two-day Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) sensitisation programme for General Service Unit (GSU) recruits at the National Police College, Embakasi ‘B’ Campus.
The sensitisation, conducted by facilitators from the Directorate of CVE, sought to strengthen the recruits’ understanding of emerging terrorism and violent extremism threats, radicalisation processes, and contemporary extremist tactics increasingly driven by technology and online influence.
The training equipped recruits with practical knowledge and skills aimed at enhancing their capacity to identify, prevent, and respond to violent extremism and terrorism-related threats while safeguarding communities from radicalisation and recruitment into extremist networks.
Key areas covered during the programme included radicalisation pathways and recruitment patterns, protective security awareness, identification of suspicious persons and activities, and evolving violent extremist threats in Kenya.
