Kenya, 27 May 2026 - Wajir County leaders on Wednesday joined other Muslims for Eid al-Adha prayers at the Hodhan Primary School playground in Wajir Town to mark the blessed occasion.
As the county prepares to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations, the leaders urged residents of Wajir to turn out in large numbers and join President William Ruto at the newly constructed Wajir International Stadium for this historic national event.
For the first time, Wajir County and the entire North Eastern region will host Madaraka Day, a milestone that reflects the remarkable progress and growing national importance of the region.
The leaders also emphasised the need for social responsibility, urging residents to safeguard the environment and maintain cleanliness within the town.
In addition, local sheikhs inspired a sense of collective responsibility among the faithful.
They stressed the importance of peace not only during Eid but as a continuous commitment to community well-being.
