14 May 2026 - Wajir County Government has launched a KSh 110 million ($851,627) bursary programme to support 21,000 students out of 46,320 applicants in the devolved unit.

Speaking to the Press Governor Ahmed Abdullahi stated that his administration has continued to fund this bursary every financial year.
"This is despite ongoing engagements with the Controller of Budget, which has classified bursary support as a national government function. We have maintained the programme as a welfare intervention to support vulnerable students and families," he said.
