MOGADISHU, 19 October 2026 Somalia’s Supreme Court on Monday approved the results of the Hirshabelle regional parliamentary elections, endorsing the outcome announced by the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The court said the results issued by the commission complied with the law following a request for certification.
The Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP), led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, won 78 of the 99 seats in the Hirshabelle House of Representatives.
Karaama won six seats, followed by Iftiin Qaran with five and Sincad with three. The Somali Democratic Party and Ramaas each secured two seats, while Caddaaladda iyo Midnimada Tiir, Madalsan and Muwadiniinta Soomaaliyeed each won one seat.
Thirteen political organisations contested the 99 parliamentary seats across 10 districts, according to the court document. Of 152,763 registered voters, 114,633 cast ballots. Valid votes totalled 112,451, while 2,182 ballots were rejected.
The approval follows elections held on Sept. 30, in which voters elected members of the Hirshabelle parliament and local councils.
