WUHU, China, 21 October 2026 Dahabshiil Motors has signed a distribution agreement with Chinese automaker Chery, securing the right to sell and distribute the company’s vehicles in Somalia through an authorised dealership, the Somali Embassy in China said.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday in Wuhu, Anhui province, between Chery Overseas Investment Corp. and Dahabshiil Motors. It provides for the sale and distribution of Chery vehicles in Somalia with warranty coverage, according to a statement published by the embassy.
Somalia’s ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, attended the signing ceremony and congratulated both companies on the agreement.
Dahabshiil Motors, established in 2019, is an automotive business that supplies vehicles and provides after-sales support. The company says it is part of the wider Dahabshiil Group and works with several international vehicle manufacturers, including Toyota, Hyundai, BYD and Sinotruk. The Chery agreement adds another Chinese automotive brand to its distribution portfolio.
Chery, established in 1997 and headquartered in Wuhu, is a Chinese vehicle manufacturer with operations in international markets. The company says it has maintained its position as China’s leading exporter of passenger vehicles by brand for 23 consecutive years. In 2025, it reported sales of about 2.8 million vehicles and exports of more than 1.3 million.

The embassy added that it would continue working to expand trade and investment ties between Somalia and China and support Somali businesses seeking access to the Chinese market.
