Somalia, 7 April, 2026 Somalia’s ruling Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) has opened a new office in Jalalaqsi town in the Hiiraan region, as part of efforts to expand its political presence ahead of upcoming elections.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, the party’s Secretary for Federal Member State Relations, Mohamed Ibrahim Mallimu said the move reflects the strategic importance of Jalalaqsi, despite the party not yet opening offices in larger cities such as Beletweyne and Buulo Burde.
He described Jalalaqsi as a key location for the party, noting its symbolic significance as the birthplace of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who chairs the party.

“We are honoured that it becomes one of the first districts to receive the party after Baydhabo,” he said, referring to a recent office opening in South West State’s capital.
Mallimu called on residents to support JSP in the upcoming elections, stressing the need to move away from clan-based politics toward a democratic system based on political parties.
The opening comes as JSP steps up grassroots mobilisation while the federal government advances plans to implement a one-person, one-vote electoral system across the federal member states.
