Somalia, 2 February 2026 Somalia’s House of the People said on Monday it is investigating an incident in which security forces reportedly injured a lawmaker inside the parliamentary chamber.
Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan ‘Nuh’, the Whip of the House of the People, told reporters a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the truth.
He said that if the soldier responsible is found to have caused harm, the security force’s continued presence would be deemed a failure of responsibility, adding that parliamentarians will stand by their colleagues.
